Police haul up teens for bashing up student

KUCHING: Police here have hauled up two teens for bashing up a student would be on Thursday.

The two, aged 15 and 17, were arrested the following day at Kampung Jaya, Mile 12, Jalan Kuching-Serian.

A police spokesman said during questioning, they admitted that they used a knuckle duster, a belt, a chair and a cane on the student.

They were part of a group of six former students of a school near Mile 12 who ganged up on the victim.

The victim, who had just finished a basketball game at around 10am, claimed that his assailants were intoxicated.

The ordeal only stopped when a teacher intervened after being informed of the incident by another student who saw the whole thing.

The victim was then rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital.

Meanwhile, at the same secondary school on Friday, another student lodged a police report that he was assaulted by seven schoolmates.

The attack occurred at around 3pm and he was robbed of his mobile phone.
