A YEAR Four pupil wrote to Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong urging the Education Ministry to stop the move to allow students to bring their handphones to school.
China Press reported that the Deputy Education Minister said the unnamed girl wrote to him on July 27 to tell him that handphones should be banned in school because they are disruptive.
“They will end up playing games instead of paying attention.
“When they see their friends have a new mobile phone, they will pester their parents to buy them one too,” she wrote, adding that thefts of mobile phones also occur.
Dr Wee commended the girl’s courage for sending him the letter and said that he would look into her concerns.
