I AM a 14-year-old secondary school student and I want to share my thoughts on how to encourage students to read.
I believe that school libraries must not only be furnished with revision books but also with comics and magazines. Some of my classmates cannot afford these imported publications, especially those in English, as they are expensive.
Some people may think that comics are a waste of time and, admittedly, some are poorly written. But most imported comics are not only a pleasure to read but improve language skills and creativity. I urge the Education Ministry and principals to look at stocking school libraries with magazines and comics.
